Overview:

Connexus Energy is located in Ramsey, MN.  We are a progressive company that provides electric service to customers in a 7-county area north of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.  We offer a friendly and collaborative work environment.

 

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Fleet/Diesel Mechanic to provide fleet services to internal customers.  Our fleet services team specializes in the maintenance and repair of heavy duty trucks, aerial lift and construction equipment. The successful candidate will have the ability to perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs in a safe, efficient, quality-minded and customer-focused manner on a wide variety of vehicles and heavy equipment.

 

This is a first shift position, working Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., but there may be occasional need to work different hours.

Key Responsibilities & Results:

  • Diagnose cause of malfunction and perform repairs, including engines, emissions, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems. This includes performing pre & post operation tests and following work-flow procedures.
  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair aerial lift equipment, as well as perform preventive maintenance inspections on lift equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair welding on equipment, fabricating parts as required.

Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:

  • High School or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 5 or more years heavy duty/diesel mechanic experience
  • Current and valid Commercial Class A Driver’s License (or ability to obtain)
  • MN DOT Inspector Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Knowledge of diesel engines and emissions
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and ANSI A92.2 guidelines
  • Skilled in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on trucks and equipment
  • Skilled in welding and cutting
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to follow work flow procedures
  • Safety conscious

Preferred Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:

  • Heavy Truck Technology formal education
  • Knowledge of transmissions, and electronic controls
  • Knowledge of brakes and suspensions
  • Knowledge of a variety of vehicles and equipment, such as bucket trucks and digger/derricks
  • Ability to operate various pieces of equipment such as backhoes and trenchers and other power operated equipment
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to follow work flow procedures

Compensation:  We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package including an hourly wage of $21.70-$36.16 depending upon qualifications and experience, shift pay, annual tool allowance, health, dental, 401k with generous company match, vacation plan, and more.
