    Do you want to put your attention to detail and experience to good use supporting our Design team?  Our Distribution Designers are key problem-solvers that plan, design, and coordinate projects for the construction of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.  Work will include new construction as well as modifications to the system.  The goal is to provide excellent customer service and distribute reliable, safe and economical power for our members.

    Key Responsibilities & Results:

    • Design, stake and coordinate projects to meet NESC and Connexus Energy standards, specifications and all applicable codes
    • Prioritize work to ensure system designs result in a reliable, cost effective distribution system
    • Operate computer software applications to aid in preparing construction work orders
    • Maintain job notes, statuses and other information
    • Communicate effectively with and between internal and external customers
    • Meet with customers as necessary to address concerns and questions
    • Interpret construction plans and design to avoid conflict with other utilities and proposed construction work


    Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:

    • Two year technical degree in Electrical Technology, GIS, Engineering, Project Management or Construction AND
      Two plus years' of experience in electrical utility design
      Four-year Bachelor's degree in GIS, Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Business or related field
    • Working knowledge of GIS, MS Office, and related systems
    • Knowledge of construction standards, materials, and technical codes
    • Highly effective communication and innovative problem solving skills
    • Current and valid Minnesota driver’s license

    Preferred Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:

    • Experience in distribution design, construction or related field experience in an electrical utility
    • Five plus years' experience in electrical utility design
    • Line design certification
